Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We have so much happening right now! On a cold night I'm writing to you from the parking lot at the Los Altos library with important news.
This week at 8:30 a.m. the boy scouts will be providing us with breakfast. It is so important for us to be there to support these young men. Please make an extra effort to come to the parish hall for this event. This is all part of Scout Sunday. If you have merit badges or anything else you can wear to worship to show your scouting affiliation that would be great.
I know I'm asking a lot from you since this is also the weekend when we change our clocks forward one hour, but every year we've done a great job of rising to the occasion and really welcoming these boys.
We?ll also be having our last evensong of the year at 4:00 p.m. We'll have beautiful choir music and a flute ensemble. It should be a spectacular service.
Alice Larse gives us the following message about Community Services Agency:
?CSA second week food drive is coming up next Sunday, March 8, 2009. Last month we delivered 251 pounds of food. Continue bringing food every Sunday or when you remember but the big push will be the second Sunday. You can put your contributions directly in a designated van at the top of the walk down to the church. It would be best to bring your fresh oranges on this Sunday.
In talking with the manager of the CSA food program we learned some of the special needs, and the needs are great. Cooking oil was on the list, cans with the easy open pull tops, soups in microwave containers, cereal and the list goes on. They receive plenty of bread from other sources. The director mentioned that some of the convenience stores are allowing the homeless to heat up food items in their microwaves. Praise The Lord! Let us continue doing a good job!?
I also want to remind you that John Day is forming new agape groups. If you are interested in signing up let him know. If you don?t know who he is I can forward your message to him.
Finally, before signing off I want to remind you on another terrible week for Wall Street that even though all the market indicators are plummeting, the value of God's kingdom continues to rise. We are God's children and God will not abandon us. The holy spirit is at work right now through you transforming the world in ways that will surprise everyone around you.
May God strengthen you in every way to do his will!
Love,
Malcolm
